Shadow Happy

While traveling earlier this week, I managed to miss my connection flight in Denver.  Because it was the last flight out for the day, I got to spend an unexpected night at the Holiday Inn.  Between the late arrival at the hotel and the need to be back to the airport way too early in the morning, I was running on only about three hours of sleep when I returned to the airport.  I wasn't in the best of moods, but the Denver Airport has some decent photo ops, so I decided it was worth getting out my camera and wandering for a bit before my flight.  Usually my stops in Denver take me to the furthest gates so I use the underground train to get there.  This time, I was leaving from the closest gates, so I used the sky bridge to walk.  It was a good choice.

I came around a corner and discovered that there was an art exhibit titled "Shadow Happy" by artist Brianna Martray in the process of being installed.  The exhibit consists of around 7000 paper cranes mounted to the walls and pillars along the length of the walkway.  The floor to ceiling windows allow for plenty of natural and changing light.  My timing couldn't have been better, the sun was just starting to peek over the horizon.  I was absolutely fascinated by these birds and their shadows.  It was a truly unique experience to watch the interaction between the birds, the light, and the shadows.  I spent a good 30 minutes shooting this exhibit.  I would have loved to stay longer, but I had a plane to catch.  Next month, I have a layover in Denver.  I am looking forward to experiencing the completed exhibit.

A Few Bits Of Calgary

Though I did a lot of shooting while I was in Calgary, I only managed to get in a few shots for me.
Calgary is a beautiful city and I'd love to get back there for a couple of good wanders.

My current view

It's been a bit quiet around here lately, sorry.  I'm afraid it is going to be a little quiet for the next bit as well.  I'm currently sitting in the airport in Calgary, waiting for my delayed plane to take me to Denver where I'll land 30 minutes after my connection to Salt Lake leaves.
I've been in Calgary for the last few days hanging out with my cousin, Justin. I have a few shots that I should be able to post in the next few days, but my priority this week is to finish processing the images from mom's party a few weeks ago.
On Saturday I head to New York City to spend a couple of days with my brother than a couple of days working. I'm really looking forward to spending time with him, it should be a good time.  I should have a good batch of images when I get home from that trip.
I'm not going to be able to post a Macro Monday today.  I'll try to get in a catch-up post tomorrow.
That's about it for now, with any luck (not holding my breath) I'll make it home tonight.

The Zoo

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours at the zoo with the kids for a school field trip.  I'm not overly thrilled with the images that I brought home, but I did get a few decent shots.
