Shooting Buddy

While there's a lot of value to spending time on your own with your camera, I strongly believe that there is some good value to shooting with friends.  A lot of times, I find that getting a few like-minded photographers together allows you to build off of each other, strengthening your own skills and vision.  In addition, it can be a lot of fun.  I'm lucky to have several good friends that I shoot with on a regular basis.  It's always a good time, and we've come up with some pretty cool images.  Of all of my shooting buddies, this one is my favorite.  This guy will keep you on your toes.  He rarely stops talking, he's always got a funny joke to tell, and he loves to have a camera in his hands.  I love sticking a camera in his hands and setting him lose.  When we're on these outings, he's free to shoot whatever he wants and as much as he wants.  While I try not to influence what he shoots, from time to time, I'll give him some pointers on how to shoot.  It's really fun to watch what catches his eye and how he goes about getting the shot.  Over Memorial Day weekend, we had the opportunity to spend a couple of days shooting.  We wandered some back roads in the Uintas.  when it got dark, we rolled our sleeping bags out in the back of the Suburban and slept.  When the sun came up, we wandered some more.  I'll tell ya, it's not a bad way to spend a weekend.
