Stars

Last weekend, we spent a bit of time camping in the mountains east of here.  We got luck one night and had clear skies, so I grabbed one of my shooting buddies and headed out to shoot some stars.

Last Concerts

With the school year winding down, we have now had Sam's final High School orchestra performances.

Might as well play the bass, right?

This is all of the seniors.  For the last concert, they are given the option of dressing up a bit.

This year, Sam has had an internship at one of the Junior High Schools.  Tonight was their final concert and she made her directing debut.  It was really fun to see her conduct these kids.

Again with the bass.

It's hard to believe that we've reached the end of these high school concerts.  We will miss watching her perform, but are looking forward to what is to come with her college career.

Tulips in Black and White

Yesterday, I was down at Temple Square, shooting some senior portraits for my nephew.  While he was off changing his clothes, I spent a few minutes photographing the tulips.  As I was processing them, I started playing around with some black and white conversions.  I liked how they looked and ended up with several in the collection.

Making Music

If you know Sam, you know that she lives for music.  It would seem that she's the happiest when she has an instrument in her hands.  It makes me happy too.  I love watching her play.  I had the opportunity this weekend to grab a few images of her with a couple of her instruments.

Sam made a new friend this weekend, this is her new violin.  Well, there's nothing new about it, other than the fact that it is new to her.  It's old, has tons of character, and sounds amazing.  I'm looking forward to making more images of Sam and her new violin.

A Few Stars

While out at the lake the other week, I took the opportunity to grab a couple of images of the stars.

One Night By The Lake

The other week, I joined some friends out by the lake for a little shooting.  It was cold and windy, but always good to get out.

Stop Motion

A while back, my son and I decided it would be fun to shoot a Lego stop motion video.  So, over Christmas break, we gave it a whirl.
We spent a total of 18 hours shooting the images, and then several hours on the processing and edits.  It was a fun project and we learned some things that we'll apply to the next one.

Sam

This is Sam.  She goes by Sam, Sami, or Samantha.  She's a pretty fantastic kid.  If an instrument has strings on it, she'll figure out how to make music with it. She's a senior this year, so that means our days of high school orchestra concerts are getting numbered.  Last night was her Christmas concert.

Oh yeah, she swims too.
