The Milky Way

While out photographing NEOWISE, I took the time to capture a few images of the Milky Way.  The night sky continues to be one of my favorite subjects to capture.

If you hadn't heard, there's been a pretty good opportunity to observe a pretty spectacular comet over the past few weeks.  NEOWISE in passing by us on its 6800 year rotation through the universe.  Over the past couple of weeks, I've been able to take a few opportunities to get out to some dark skies and capture the comet.  It has been a lot of fun experiencing this once in a lifetime event!

 

Painting At The Tunnels

A few weeks back, my friend Dale was in town.  One of the nights he was here, I took him out to the Sun Tunnels for some stars and some light painting.  We picked a great night to go as the skies were nice and clear.

Of all the times I've been to the tunnels, this was the first that I have ever ran into anyone out there.  When we got there, we found that Heiko was there and had made camp for the night.  Heiko is on the tail end of riding his motorbike around the world.  At this point, he had done somewhere north of 65,000 miles.  We had a great time spending a few hours with him under the stars.  You can read more about his adventure here: http://www.notchtheworld.com/index.php/de/

A Little Bit Of Catch Up

It has been a very busy few weeks around here.  We have finished our re-location and are working on getting settled in.  While I've managed to get in a little shooting here and there, I haven't had time to do any proper editing, so I am way behind.  I have done a bit of processing on my laptop so I figured I would post a quick collection of images to catch up a bit.  I will get around to full posts from each of these shoots one of these days.

These first three images were shot from the road in front of my house.  I had stepped outside to move my truck and happened to look up to see the milky way.

We've had some pretty crazy storms roll through here over the last couple of weeks.  I haven't had much time to go out chasing, but did manage to get in a couple of shots the other night.

I had a friend in town last week from California.  He doesn't get a lot of opportunities to shoot the stars, so I took him up to the hills above my house to practice for our excursion to the desert the following night.

Here's a couple of shots from our trip to the Sun Tunnels.  We had a lot of fun and came home with some great images.  We also met someone out there, a first for me.  I'll tell you more about that later.

Sun Tunnels - Part One

Last weekend, my buddy Rusty and I made a trek out to the Lucin Sun Tunnels with the hope of getting in some Milky Way shots.  I'll post those images later, for now, here's a collection of images from sunset and sunrise the following morning.
