The Milky Way

Last week, I had the chance to get out and shoot with the Ogden Camera Club.  We had a great time, and finished the evening shooting the Milky Way.  As you can see, it was a perfect opportunity.

This last shot isn't mine.  It belongs to my son, Pete.

A Little Painting with the Ogden Camera Club

Last weekend, I headed out to the Spiral Jetty with the Ogden Camera Club.  The point of the excursion was to shoot the sunset, do a little light painting, and shoot the Milk Way.  I did the painting while my friends Doug and Rusty helped everyone with settings and techniques.  We had a lot of fun and came away with some great images.  Because there were about 25 people getting the same shots, I decided to go a little overboard with the processing on these.

Here's part of the group getting set up to shoot.  It was a lot of fun to shoot with old and new friends.

Stay tuned, I'll post Milky Way images soon.  You don't want to miss them, they are pretty fantastic!

More Milky Way

This past week, I took a couple of days off to join my family for the last weekend of their month long stay in the Uinta Mountains.  It just so happened that the weekend coincided with the new moon, so it was a good opportunity to shoot some stars.  I'm pretty sure that I'll never get tiered of shooting the night sky.

The Milky Way

While camping this past week in the Uinta mountains, we had a couple of nights with clear skies.  So, I took the opportunity to shoot some stars.  Most of these are frames from time lapse sequences that I shot.

A Little Painting

Last night, I took a last minute trip out to the south shore of the Great Salt Lake to meet up with a couple of friends to shoot sunset and a little light painting.  It was really great to get out and shoot.  As always, it was a good time.  Here's my favorite of the light painting images.

Painted Desert - Round Two

This is the second round of light painting from the Nevada desert.  This time, we decided to make a quick trip out to Red Rocks, just west of Las Vegas.  We got out there and the gates to the park were closed, so we had to improvise a bit, but still found a good spot.  We had a few more days worth of moon, and a lot of city light, so there was a good amount of ambient light.
