The other morning, I spent a bit of time out at Farmington Bay, seeing what there was to see. I was happy to see that there were more Bald Eagles than the last couple of times I was there, but they stayed far enough out on the ice that I didn't get any amazing images. So, I spent my time watching the herons that were hanging out. I sat and watched this guy for a good bit, hoping that he'd get hungry and do a little fishing. I wasn't disappointed.

A Comparison
While out shooting this morning, I decided to do a bit of a comparison. This is the same Kestrel on the same sign, shot with the same camera at the same settings. Those settings were 1/1600 Sec, f/7.1, ISO 500, 400mm. So, what's the difference? Each image was shot with a different lens or lens and teleconverter.
This first image was shot with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II and the EF 2.0x III Extender
This image was shot with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS II
Last but not least, this image was shot with the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II
Click on the images to make them bigger and poke around. I'll let you decide which one you prefer.

Winter Wildlife
Last weekend, Pete and I spent a night out on the island. While there, we wandered a bit in search of some wildlife. In addition to the regular bison and antelope, we saw a few other creatures.

Stop Motion
A while back, my son and I decided it would be fun to shoot a Lego stop motion video. So, over Christmas break, we gave it a whirl.
We spent a total of 18 hours shooting the images, and then several hours on the processing and edits. It was a fun project and we learned some things that we'll apply to the next one.

A Bit of Wildlife
The other morning, I made a trip out to Antelope Island with my neighbor to see what there was to see. Overall, it was pretty quiet (and cold), but we did come across these guys.

The Jupiter
This year, the Jupiter was the engine on display at steam fest out at Golden Spike National Historic Site. It always fun to shoot the trains during this event.
