A Day At The Lake

Our family did something a little different this weekend, we rented a kayak and some paddle boards and spent the day at the lake.  Pretty sure the kids will agree that we need to do this again.

Sam managed to get Ci Ci on the paddle board for about a minute.

Pete has been talking about a kayak for a long time.  This was his first opportunity to try one out.  I'm afraid he's hooked.

Somehow the girls managed to convince Pete to tow them back from the other side of the lake.

After spending the first half of the day as a passenger on the paddle boards, Becca wanted to try it on her own.  She did pretty well, though sitting was more her style.

Becca took to the kayak pretty quickly.

The Other Night, Out By The Jetty

Last week, I had the opportunity to join a couple of good friends for some late night shenanigans.  It had been way too long since we'd shot together, and we finally managed to get something put together.  We headed out to the Spiral Jetty for sunset and then stuck around for some light painting.  When we got to the Jetty, we found a good amount of people milling about, so we switched gears and headed over to the posts instead.  I've shot at this spot a number of times and always manage to come home with some good images.  This night was no exception.

I actually shot two cameras side by side for most of the night.  These last four images were captured in infrared.  I wasn't sure what results I'd get, shooting at night, but figured it would be fun to give it a whirl.  It produced some interesting results, especially after some work in post.

A Few Flowers

A few weeks back, we had some family in town and headed down to Temple Square for the choir broadcast.  After the broadcast, we spent a bit of time wandering the grounds.  Of course, I spent the time chasing some of the flowers around with my camera.

A Bit Of Macro Work

I spent a bit of time this afternoon, playing around with the Canon EOS M5 and the EF-M 28mm Macro lens.  This was the first opportunity I've had to do any real shooting with this lens and I've got to say that it was a lot of fun.  Most of these images were illuminated by the built in LED ring light on the lens.  It did a pretty decent job of lighting things up.

For these last images, I had to switch to using an off camera speedlite as the built in LED lights were causing a pretty bad reflection on the surface of the water.
