While wandering the Uinta Mountains with my son this weekend, we found all sorts of great stuff to shoot.  I knew when I came across this grove of aspens next to a small pond, that I'd really like the resulting images.  I was right.  My only problem now is to decide which I like more, color or black and white.

  1. Very nice! Do you consider your horizon line to be at the water/grass edge or the tree/grass edge? Either way, I like how the green is slightly below center!

If I may, I think the color makes a better statement as there is more contrast between the green of the grass and the grey/brown of the trees. It'd look great on a canvas perhaps. Whereas in the black and white, there doesn't seem to be as much contrast so everything is blending together.

(Followed your link from DPS. Love your photos!)

  2. Thanks, Megan! I agree, the more I look at these, the more I like the color version. I may go back and re-work the black and white to make it a little stronger.

I love hearing from you, good or bad!
